Copius - A 1998 Holsteiner gelding by Calido I out of a Caletto I mareCopius is a superbly bred Holsteiner gelding with scope, a great temperament and good mind. The sire, Calido I is the most important stallion son of Cantus with 19 Approved sons, 21 State Premium Mares and 470 offspring in sport. Sons Coster and Clintwood were Germany's 2004 6 yo showjumping Bundeschampionat Champion and Reserve Champion. Son Cormint was Reserve Champion at 2004 Neumunster Holsteiner stallion Approvals. Calido scored 10 out of 10 in jumping at his stallion Approvals. He is a gorgeous modern type, very correct with superior movement, a 10 jumping form and a gentle temperament. Calido is the ideal producer of modern jumpers and dressage movement. His pedigree contains 3x Cor de la Bryere, 3x Cottage Son XX, 3x Ramzes AA and 2x Anblick XX. Caletto I, Copius's dam's sire is by the world-renowned stallion Cor de la Bryère, a leading sire of performers in all three disciplines. He is considered the father of the modern show jumper, producing fifty approved sons standing worldwide, Justin bought Copius as an unbroke 3 year old in Germany from watching him free-jump. He started his training by running through the pastures, swimming in the sea and being allowed to just be a horse. He showed successfully in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Holland and Austria before being brought to America in 2006, where he continues to campaign. In March 2008, he was second in a HITS Arizona Sunday Grand Prix. In April 2008 he was 12th in the qualifying Grand Prix for the $100k Grand Prix at the Del Mar National. He completed the challenging course with 8 faults.
