OZ - a 12 year old Ommen gelding

Oz is a 12 year old (7/14/99) gelding by the famous KWPN Ommen.

Ommen’s dam, Orona, comes from a long

line of international jumpers.  Her sire, Joost, was a successful international show jumper himself and a sire of many good horses, such as Amigo and Palfrenier, ridden by Hap Hansen.  Joost is by Consul, who carries the most famous Holsteiner bloodlines.  Orona’s dam is by Rigoletto by Ramzes, one of the oldest and most famous bloodlines in Germany.  Rigoletto was the sire of the successful show jumpers, Dalfsen, Santa Monica, and Sam Sam.

Imported from Holland as a four-year old, he began a careful training program under the practiced eye of Lynne Little of Frederick, Maryland.  Entering the open division as a six-year old, Ommen placed third in the Aid to Zoo Grand Prix in Phoenix, Arizona, the second Grand Prix of his competitive life.  His extraordinary athletic ability and even temperament allows him to be not only one of the youngest horses in the Grand Prix circuit, but one of the most impressive.

A truly remarkable jumper and graceful mover, Ommen’s excellent disposition and outstanding competitive performance secure his destiny as the jumping sire of the decade, whose offspring hold the future promise of the growth of the American performance horse, passing on the characteristics of the most famous European bloodlines produced from a century of careful breeding.
